Ankara University (AU) student Mehmet Can Tan was sentenced to reprimand after reciting a ‘Cow Prayer’ during the traditional ‘Cow Celebration’ of the university’s Faculty of Political Sciences.
In the disciplinary investigation opened by the rectorate two years after his graduation, Tan was sentenced to “one-month suspension” and the penalty was turned into a reprimand due to his lack of criminal record at the university. Launching a statement on the matter, Association of Political Science Graduates indicated that the investigation against Tan, who was targeted on the social media due to ‘insulting religion’ with the ‘Cow Prayer’, was opened upon order by Ankara Governorate and Security Directorate.
